Thus spoke Ambedkar
1. We will attain self-elevation only if we learn self-help, regain self-respect & gain self -knowledge.
2. Man is mortal. Every one is to die some day or other. But one must resolve to lay down ones life for enriching the noble ideas of self-respect & bettering human life. We are not slaves. We are a warrior clan. Nothing is more disgraceful for a brave man than to live a life devoid of self-respect & without love for the country.
3. What you have lost, others have gained. Your humiliation is a matter of pride with others. You are made to suffer wants, deprivations & humiliation not because it was preordained by the sins committed by you in the previous birth, but because of overpowering tyranny & treachery of those above you. You have no lands because others have usurped them, you have no posts because others have monopolised them. Do not believe in fate. Believe in your strength. 4. Lost rights are never regained by begging & by appeals to the conscience of the usurpers, but by relentless struggles. Goats are used for sacrificial offerings and not lions.
5. There is no honour in mere survival. What matters is the plane of survival. One can survive by unconditional surrender. One can survive by beating a cowardly retreat & one can survive by fighting.
6. It is a primary responsibility of every educated person to serve his poor & ignorant brethren. After reaching an exalted position this educated person forgets his illiterate brethren. If he did not pay attention to thousands of his brethren, it would lead to a downfall of our society.
7. Education is a sword and being a double-edged weapon, is dangerous to wield. So an educated man without character and humility is more dangerous than beast. |
